Our Programs

Volar

A program of FPV FOUNDATION, VoLaR is a virtual reality flight training program that provides flight simulation lab equipment and software that teaches basic aviation knowledge and skills for a variety of private and commercial aircraft.

It exposes students to aviation opportunities, helps students develop critical thinking skills related to aviation, and creates pipelines for a variety of aviation jobs in the community. Starting with completion of private pilot licenses, the program also leads to job opportunities in engine repair, flight engineering, data collection, air traffic control, flight attendant certification, and other aviation-related occupations.

The VolaR Program features two aviation development programs dovetailed to help graduating high school seniors transition into flight or trade school training and career development. The VolaR Virtual Reality Flight Training Program is offered to schools for high school seniors, and after graduation the VolaR Cadet Program assists with flight or trade school training and career development.

The VolaR Virtual Reality Flight Training Program for high school seniors jumpstarts their aviation careers by offering in-depth professional training developed by our founders, who are uniquely qualified and experienced in designing aviation training, certification, and safety programs.

We expose students to new opportunities for stable careers in a growing industry in need of new pilots, engineers, maintenance personnel, and other specialized aviation jobs. With urgent and well-publicized shortages throughout the aviation industry, our small and exclusive VolaR program can flourish, providing a previously untapped source of new, eager, and enthusiastic talent.

The program is unique because we have designed an unprecedented training curriculum that integrates additional skills universally ignored by flight schools. We start out with immediate virtual reality training, adding soft-skills preparation and rigorous academics. We prepare students for their written FAA flight examinations whereas almost all flight schools eschew soft skills, workbook, and manual instruction, leaving students poorly prepared to successfully complete their FAA written examinations.

Soft skills, taught throughout our instruction, include critical thinking, servant leadership values, management, volunteerism and service, communications skills, networking, risk resource management, and safety assessment. We offer a solid multi-skill foundation, distinctly different from the current paradigm of flight training.

The VolaR Cadet Program support students after graduation, helping them find affordable ways to complete flight or aviation trade school training, preparing them for professional career opportunities. We continue our one-on-one mentoring and assist them with resume development, interview preparation, and recommendations. The combination of these two program aspects assists poor students from underserved and under-resourced communities succeed. We estimate that as many as ten (10) graduating students will pass their FAA private pilot license examinations and choose to proceed in aviation careers.
